Translational research for severe Inherited Peripheral Neuropathies
Prof. Alessandra Bolino is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow to join the research team at the San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan, Italy (https://www.unisr.it/en/docenti/b/bolino-alessandra). This role is central to an innovative research program dedicated to developing advanced therapeutic strategies for the most severe forms of inherited peripheral neuropathies with childhood onset, the demyelinating Charcot-Marie Tooth type 4.
The successful candidate will test the efficacy of AAV9-mediated gene replacement strategies using systemic and intrathecal delivery. Taking advantage of extensively characterized in vivo and ex vivo disease models, this project sits at the forefront of genetic medicine, utilizing viral vector technology to address currently unmet medical needs in pediatric neurology.
This position provides direct collaboration with world-leading investigators in the field of neuromuscular disorders and gene therapy across both Europe and the United States.
Candidate profile.
- Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Molecular and Cellular Biology, or a related biomedical field.
- Proven expertise in viral vector systems (AAV) and/or neuromuscular disease models.
- A solid track record of peer-reviewed publications
- Independent research capability
- Excellent communication skills for high-level international collaboration.
Duties and Responsibilities.
The successful candidate will lead the experimental pipeline, utilizing a combination of ex vivo and in vivo methodologies:
- Design and execution of ex vivo studies using myelin-forming Schwann/DRG neuron co-cultures and in vivo assessments in established murine models of inherited neuropathies.
- Molecular cloning of AAV9 vectors specifically tailored for gene replacement studies.
- Conduct comprehensive multi-parametric analyses, including:
- Ensure rigorous data integrity via Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN) and contribute significantly to the dissemination of results through high-impact peer-reviewed manuscripts.
How to Apply.
Please submit a letter of intent, your curriculum vitae, and the contact information for academic references to Alessandra Bolino, bolino.alessandra@hsr.it.
